Our holidays to Cuba and the Caribbean Islands offer a wide choice of very different islands, all with spectacular palm-shaded beaches and warm turquoise waters, wonderful for snorkelling, diving and sailing. You can also visit historic sights associated with these islands’ complex colonial heritage.

Cuba is the largest of the Caribbean islands and offers a heady cocktail of faded colonial splendour, with iconic old motor vehicles, salsa music, communism, authentic rum, world famous cigars and white sandy beaches.

With historic Bridgetown as its capital, glamorous Barbados is one of the most popular Caribbean destinations, having attracted the rich and famous for years, whilst the former British colony of Antigua offers beautiful white sand beaches. St Lucia is a top snorkelling and diving destination, with two volcanic mountain spires draped in lush rainforest (the twin Pitons) that are ideal for walking. A string of Robinson Crusoe islands makes St Vincent & the Grenadines a secluded upmarket hideaway for celebrities, as is French-Creole St. Barths and French-Dutch St.Martin. The small former French colony of St. Kitts & Nevis is a two-island state that is great for sailing, walking and hiking.

The far-flung Bahamas archipelago has an incredible barrier reef, shallow aquamarine waters and some of the best diving in the world, whilst its small neighbour of Turks & Caicos shares the same coral reef and hosts migrating whales. The three Cayman Islands are a British Overseas Territory, with Grand Cayman boasting untouched corals and famous Seven Mile Beach. The tiny British Overseas Territory of Bermuda is actually in the Atlantic (not the Caribbean), with distinctive pink sandy beaches formed from finely ground coral.

The Dominican Republic is the second largest Caribbean Island (after Cuba) and attracts the highest number of visitors, with many luxury all-inclusive resorts. The peaks and valleys of much smaller Dominica are covered in rainforest and this island offers some of the best diving in the Caribbean The volcanic Morne Trois Pitons National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, making this island with far fewer beaches an unspoiled gem for walkers and nature lovers. Vibrant Jamaica offers the music of Bob Marley, plantain, jerk chicken, salt fish, ackee fruit and the ultimate Caribbean party. Ian Fleming wrote many of his James Bond novels here. Lesser known islands include tiny Anguilla, the French Overseas Territories of Guadeloupe and the Dutch Caribbean islands of Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao (the ‘ABC Islands’). Puerto Rico is an unincorporated USA territory.
