In the south, the Bavarian Alps offer a stunning playground for walkers, cyclists, horse riders and skiers. The Black Forest has many pretty spa towns and is crisscrossed with walking trails. Here you can visit the fairytale Neuschwanstein Castle and enjoy its famous cherry-and-chocolate gateau. The annual Oktoberfest held in Munich is a joyous celebration, and every 10 years a famous Easter Passion Play is held in the small town of Oberammergau. Germany also has many distinctive culinary delights, including a wide variety of regional breads, ‘wurst’ sausages, pretzels and some of the best beers in the world.
