South America is a vast continent with a vibrantly beating heart, spectacular landscapes and incredible natural resources. Brazil is vast and is home to much of the Amazon rainforest and Pantanal Wetlands, home of the jaguar, as well as exciting cities such as Rio de Janeiro, which has one of the most spectacular locations in the world. It shares the mighty Iguazu (or Iguassu) Falls with Argentina, and has many legendary beaches.

Peru offers a wonderful cultural experience combined with fabulous Spanish colonial cities, towering Andean Mountains and easy access to the rainforests of the Amazon. Highlights include the incredible Inca citadel at Machu Picchu, the old capital of Cusco, enormous Lake Titicaca and the mysterious Nazca Lines. Small Ecuador is situated on the equator, but is home to the incredible Galapagos Islands, with their endemic birds and wildlife, as well as the ‘Avenue of the Volcanoes’. Relatively undiscovered Colombia has a lively culture and many stunning sites including the Salt Cathedral near Bogotá, enormous El Peñol Rock, the pretty Coffee Region, the Rainbow River in the Crystal Canyon, and the superbly preserved Spanish Caribbean port of Cartagena, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Bolivia is famous for the spectacular Uyuni Salt Flats, the largest in the world.

Chile is known for its stunning landscapes, which stretch from the deserts of Atacama in the north, to the glacial lakes and icefields of Patagonia in the south. Separated by the mighty Andes Mountains, much larger Argentina also boasts incredible scenery ranging from deserts to glaciers. It is also renowned for its winelands, gaucho (cowboy) and tango culture, vibrant cities such as Buenos Aires and the best steaks in the world! Small Uruguay also has excellent winelands and wildlife, as well as great beaches.
