Holidays to Malta and Cyprus

Holidays to Malta and Cyprus holidays both offer sun-soaked Mediterranean islands, with glorious beaches and warm clear waters - but they are very different experiences.

Malta is an archipelago of 21 small islands in the central Mediterranean Sea, south of Sicily. Inhabited for thousands of years and ruled by the Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs, Sicilians, French and British, it is known for its many historical sights. The fortified capital of Valletta, the ancient Megalithic Temples & medieval Mdina are all World Heritage Sites. There are many sights associated with the crusading Knights of St John & World War Two, as well as 365 churches, each celebrating a different saint. The best beaches are in the north. The small island of Gozo offers a completely relaxed experience, whilst uninhabited Comino has beautiful beaches and excellent diving.

Cyprus is situated much further east, with a culture heavily influenced by both Greece and Turkey. According to Greek mythology this beautiful island was the birthplace of Aphrodite, the goddess of love. Today the south of this politically divided island is independent, with many popular beaches and luxury hotels, whilst the north is still ruled by Turkey. It offers an extremely hospitable and relaxing cultural experience, especially if you venture into the mountainous interior.
